Middlesex University
Classroom Presence
The situation
Middlesex University is internationally renowned with over 35,000 students worldwide; it is also one of the UK’s leading teacher training institutions. Keen as ever to provide the best possible training for their student teachers, Middlesex were looking to boost the classroom skills based element of their PGCE courses.
Where we came in
We were initially asked to provide some performance training for teachers in order to supplement their core subject based learning. This was the birth of our Classroom Presence training course.
We delivered the course to both trainee and experienced teachers over a week in the summer holiday. The course was a huge success, and has grown in popularity since then, attracting teachers from all over Europe.
Given the success of the week long intensive course, Middlesex decided to integrate the Classroom Presence training into some of their PGCE courses, targeting those students most in a need of a boost to their classroom presence, behaviour management and all round confidence.
The results
Here’s what a few people have said about our classroom presence training:
‘The tutors organised the course wonderfully and I learned a lot from them and the course.’
‘A very good week to build confidence into my NQT year. Both tutors were excellent and very knowledgeable.’
'I have enjoyed the week very much. Really good fun in a very relaxed environment and lots of challenges. I am sure it has helped all of us to evolve in many different ways. In fact I think it is a revolutionary course, congratulations for your fantastic work'
