National Union of TeachersCase Study - NUT

Voice Training for Teachers

The situation

The National Union of Teachers is the largest teaching union in the UK representing over 295,000 teachers.  Part of their remit is to provide top quality training and CPD for all teachers including a programme of training events at their annual conference.

Where we came in

The NUT needed some expert voice training for their conference delegates, but it had to be relevant to teaching.  Our combination of voice training skills and years of teaching experience meant that we were perfectly placed to deliver the best training for them.

However, we faced the additional challenge of controlling a room full of 35 rowdy teachers all de-mob happy and enjoying being let off school premises for a day or two.

No easy task, but by the end of the session the room was alive with laughter and enthusiasm, with many of the teachers telling us they’d been needing that training for their entire careers!

The results

Hopefully, this says it all:

'Opposite Leg ran a ‘Voice and Body Check-Up’ workshop at the NUT’s National Education Conference in July 2011.  The feedback from delegates was overwhelmingly positive.'

Comments included:

'Excellent session! David & Guy are brilliant presenters and got us all moving around & interacting. We should all do more of this.  Can they come next year also?'

'Excellent!  A life times worth of usefulness!'

'I would have no hesitation in recommending them for future NUT events.'
