Pearson PLC
Presentation Skills, Interpersonal Communication, Influencing and Assertiveness
The situation
Pearson is a global business, they own both The Financial Times group and the Penguin Publishing group, and are world leaders in providing educational materials, learning resources and curricula in hundreds of countries for millions of students.
Pearson is also committed to becoming the world’s number one learning company, so staff training and development plays a big part in their company ethos.
Where we came in
Pearson initially approached us to run presentation skills training for a group of staff involved in a Dragon’s Den style charity project – with the winning pitch receiving financial support.
Following this we began running Art of Presenting training regularly on their staff development programme – taking the training course nationwide to their sites in Oxford, Manchester, Harlow and the London HQ; and working with diverse teams from graduate scheme trainees to senior sales outfits.
As part of their commitment to being a bone fide learning company Pearson are keen to achieve global consistency in their training delivery and have chosen us to develop and deliver a portfolio of training courses to be distributed globally.
We are currently providing a rolling programme of Presentation Skills training, Advanced Presentation Skills training, Assertiveness and Influencing and Influencing Stakeholders training courses for all staff, while developing bespoke course guides for in-house trainers worldwide.
Exciting times for Opposite Leg and Pearson Plc.
The results
Pearson has high expectations. We seek to exceed those expectations every time by providing exciting and motivating training sessions, which get staff up on their feet developing new skills quickly and confidently.
The best testimony to our work is the excellent ongoing relationship we have with the Pearson team and our expanding portfolio of training courses on offer there.
This sums it up very well:
‘Just to say thanks to you both for the training course on Monday. It was by far the most interesting, stimulating and fun training course I’ve been on since my time at Pearson. I’ve taken away some key learning points too, largely that I can actually stand up and present without much (or any!) preparation beforehand, which was my main aim – in order to reduce my reliance on rigid, inflexible and scripted presentations with cue cards.’
