About Guy Michaels

Guy Michaels Opposite Leg Founder
Guy is an associate communication skills trainer at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art .

Guy has an extensive performance and training background.  After gaining a degree in Performance from UEA, he toured internationally, performed as a professional musician and was heavily involved in the development of theatre training courses in the late nineties.

Having taught acting, improvisation and devising skills at numerous drama schools, Guy began to coach business executives in presentation skills, transferring his understanding of performance directly into wider settings.  Initially called upon to train frontline staff for BT, coaching customer service representatives, Guy honed his ability coax the performer out of his trainees, focussing on clarity of message and genuine human connection.

He also directed for the Gordon Craig theatre, Edinburgh Festival and London’s South Bank Festival and, an expert in improvisation and creativity, still teaches regularly at The Actor’s Centre in Covent Garden and at Sadlers Wells Theatre.

Guy's work as a LAMDA qualified voice coach for both performers and business speakers focussed on accent softening for overseas business professionals and coaching trainees at UK business schools including LSE and Middlesex University.

His experience and interest in education led Guy to qualifying as a teacher before going on to co-found Opposite Leg Creative Training and Development with David Windle.  Initially they worked with trainee teachers, delivering Classroom Presence training in leading educational institutions, turning teachers into performers up and down the UK.

Naturally, they soon began designing and delivering communication and presentation skills training courses for businesses and charities, with a particular emphasis on freeing up people's creativity and presenting personality.  Guy is passionate about helping people feel relaxed and happy in front of a business audience - it is the first step to presenting success.

As well as delivering training, Guy is an expert in audio and vocal production and the technical side of presenting and is regularly called upon to create bespoke presentations for events and fundraising bids for charity clients.  One particular presentation secured a rather large amount of money for a charity client from a mobile communication giant.  He thrives on responding to a client's or a trainee's needs in the moment, adapting the training and taking chances to make sure the trainee takes away as much benefit as possible from the session.

For Opposite Leg training company, Guy has trained extensively in the corporate and charity sector, specialising in coaching executives in body language, presentation technique and presentation structure.

With a keen eye for course design and an imaginative approach to devising training sessions Guy insists that no Opposite Leg training session should ever be 'off the shelf' - it has to be training designed for you.

If you like the sound of Guy's work, get in touch with Opposite Leg and we will design a training course for you.
